To enhance the feelings of safety, confidence and sense of wellbeing of socially isolated people over 50 years of age and people with a disability living in Hobsons Bay
The Hobsons Bay Community Register is a joint initiative between Hobsons Bay City Council, Hobsons Bay Police and Gateway Social Support Options. It has been established with funding provided by the Office of Senior Victorians, a part of the Department of Planning and Community Development.
The Register is a confidential and secure database of Hobsons Bay residents who are over 50 years of age and / or have a disability.
Personal information is securely held at the office of Gateway Social Support Options and is available to the Hobsons Bay Police, Hobsons Bay City Council and the Australian Red Cross to help you in emergency situations.
Volunteers from Gateway Social Support Options provide regular phone calls to check on your wellbeing, providing comfort and peace of mind.
During a heatwave, volunteers from the Australian Red Cross will provide daily phone calls to those members of the register who are most at risk of heat related illness, such as the frail elderly or those who are housebound due to a disability.
Participation is voluntary and registration is free.
Hobsons Bay residents over 50 years of age value their safety and independence. Some live alone or with a partner and may feel isolated from family, friends and community life.
The Register gives family and friends peace of mind when they can't be with you. They know that you are in touch with people who care, and if there is an emergency, they can be notified.
